828 ASSISTANT GROUNDS FOREMAN
QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or GED
Demonstrates aptitude for successfully performing tasks assigned.
Demonstrates ability to work and get along with people.
Good manual dexterity and ability to lift 50 pounds weight.
Such additional qualification as the Board may find appropriate.
Must maintain current Texas Driver License; maintain appropriate driving record for insurance purposes.
Willingness to work occasional overtime.
REPORTS TO: GROUNDS FOREMAN
JOB GOALS: Assist in maintaining the grounds of all district schools in a condition of safety, neatness, and aesthetic attractiveness, so that each student may be provided with an outdoor environment both pleasing to look at and good to play in.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Noncontractual (At-will); Manual/Trades Paygrade: 2;Estimated 232 days; estimated 8 hours daily Wage/Hour Status: Nonexempt
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
1.
Assist in coordinating, supervising and participating in the ground maintenance work of the district’s schools and related facilities.
2.
Assist in assigning duties to ground crew, participates in those duties and inspects completion of work.
3.
Assist in any emergency as needed.
4.
Observes all health hazards and warnings.
5.
Trains subordinates to perform skilled work and perform such duties as required .
6.
Assist in instructing ground crew on proper use of equipment, such as mowers, edgers, tractors and the like.
7.
Complies with directions and instructions from supervisor and performs other tasks and assumes such responsibilities as may be assigned.
8.
Maintains positive and cooperative working relationships with colleagues and others in the conduct of district business and demonstrates team work in daily activities.
9.
Is prompt, timely, and thorough in completing assignments and attending to details accurately and efficiently.
10.
Meets attendance standards and complies with notification procedures for absences.
11.
Provides complete and accurate information in the conduct of district business.
12.
Maintains confidentiality in the conduct of district business.
13.
Complies with district policies, as well as state and federal laws and regulations.
14.
Follows the daily work schedule and makes good use of time.
EQUIPMENT USED: Ability to use all manual and motorized lawn equipment.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Mental Demands: Reading; ability to perform basic arithmetic, ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); maintain emotional control under stress.
Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Must possess good physical dexterity and have the ability to perform manual tasks and body movement including climbing, lifting, reaching, stooping, bending, walking, standing, and carrying; ability to lift 50 pounds weight. Works outside and inside; exposure to hot and cold temperatures; exposure to dust, toxic chemicals and materials; slippery or uneven walking surfaces; work on ladders.
