825A DISTRICT SECURITY OFFICER
QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma or G.E.D.
General knowledge of report writing and security detail.
Training in use of handcuffs, Asp and pepper spray.
Valid Texas Driver License.
1 to 2 years experience in law enforcement or related work experience.
REPORTS TO: DISTRICT POLICE CHIEF
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Noncontractual (At-will); Manual Trades Pay Grade 4; Estimated 226 days; Estimated 40 hours weekly.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Monitor parking lot by driving through frequently.
Keep lot gates closed.
Maintains proper condition of vehicle.
Patrol assigned routes, driving or walking, within district buildings and grounds to prevent fires, theft, vandalism and illegal entries.
Inspect and secure doors, windows, lights, and gates when building is vacant.
Respond and investigate any calls from campuses concerning security problems.
Respond to burglar alarms and fire alarms and check buildings; reset alarms or notify Police or Fire Departments if necessary.
Prepare offense, incident and daily reports and ensure thoroughness of information contained in these reports.
Complies with directions and instructions from supervisor and performs other tasks and assumes such responsibilities as may be assigned.
Maintains positive and cooperative working relationships with colleagues and others in conduct of district business and demonstrates team work in daily activities.
Is prompt, timely, and thorough in completing assignments and attending to details accurately and efficiently.
Meets attendance standards and complies with notification procedures for absences.
Provides complete and accurate information in the conduction of district business.
Maintains confidentiality in the conduction of district business.
Complies with district policies, as well as state and federal laws and regulations.
EQUIPMENT USED:
Ability to use security equipment and drive an automobile.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Mental Demands: Reading; ability to perform basic arithmetic; ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); maintain emotional control under stress.
Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Strenuous walking, standing, and/or climbing; ability to assist in controlling sudden violent or extreme physical acts of others and exhibit rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously. May be subjected to adverse and hazardous working conditions. Work outdoors in varying climate conditions.
