824 GROUNDSKEEPER


QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. High School Diploma or GED

  2. Demonstrates aptitude for successfully performing tasks assigned.

  3. Demonstrates ability to work with people and follow instructions.

  4. Willingness to work occasional overtime.

REPORTS TO:        GROUNDS SUPERVISOR/SUPERVISOR OF MAINTENANCE

JOB GOALS:

  1. Assist in maintaining the grounds of all district schools in a condition of safety, neatness, and aesthetic attractiveness.


TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Noncontractual (At-will); Manual/Trades  Paygrade: 1;  Estimated 232 days; estimated 8 hours daily;  Wage/Hour Status: Nonexempt


MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES


1.         

Participates in mowing grounds of all schools and facilities within the school district.

2.         

Assists in planting, cultivating, pruning and sowing of various shrubs and seeds.

3.         

Work flower beds.

4.         

Clean school grounds of trash and rubbish.

5.         

Assist in any emergency nature repair or clean up.

6.         

Participate in custodial relief on an emergency basis.

7.         

Assist with skilled trades when needed.

8.         

Assist moving furniture, etc., when needed.

9.         

Complies with directions and instructions from Supervisor and performs other tasks and assumes such responsibilities as may be assigned.

10.      

Maintains positive and cooperative working relationships with colleagues and others in the conduct of district business and demonstrates

11.      

Is prompt, timely, and thorough I completing assignments and attending to details accurately and efficiently.

12.      

Meets attendance standards and complies with notification procedures for absences.

13.      

Follows the daily work schedule and makes good use of time.

 

 

EQUIPMENT USED:

Ability to use all manual and motorized lawn equipment

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Mental Demands:  Reading; ability to communicate effectively (verbal); maintain emotional control under stress.

Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:  Must possess good physical dexterity and have the ability to perform manual tasks and body movement including climbing, lifting up to 50 pounds, reaching, stooping, bending, walking, standing, and carrying.  Works outside and inside; exposure to hot and cold temperatures; exposure to dust, toxic chemicals and materials; slippery or uneven walking surfaces; work on ladders; work alone.
