News Release Math Campers Prepare for the Future
The Texas Middle Mathematics Camp is adding up the benefits this week at Stewart Middle School. The camp is an opportunity for seventh and eighth grade students to make connections in mathematics that will prepare them for math classes they will take in the future. The goal of the camp is for students to improve math skills.
“The camp is wonderful because in addition to letting students learn during the summer, it allows teachers to try out new teaching methods,” said Marian Rainwater, Director of Curriculum and Instruction.
The camp is team-taught by mathematics teachers participating in the Texas Middle and Secondary Mathematics Project at Stephen F. Austin State University and funded by the National Science Foundation. In addition to these teachers, mathematics faculty from various colleges and universities across the state will serve in advisory and supervisory roles.
