Dogan Middle School Gymnasium Campers Travel Around the World in a Day Middle school campers will bring the cultures of more than 20 international countries to Tyler, Texas. Dogan Middle School will host the first Around the World in a Day grand finale from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 29, 2006. Campers have spent two weeks preparing for the big event. Through the students research of each country, visitors will feel as if they are traveling Around the World in a Day. Music, dance, historical exhibits, and arts and crafts from around the world will be on display to the public in the gymnasium of the school. Samples of food and drink from around the world will also be available. Entertainment will include music and dance from the Middle East, Mexico, Latin America, Africa, and Turkey. A fashion show will feature native dress from countries such as China, Egypt, India, and Thailand. The students are very excited to show off their work and are very proud of what theyve accomplished, said camp teacher Elizabeth Lade. The camp is a result of the GEAR Up program that is coordinated by UT Tyler and Tyler ISD faculty. GEAR Up encourages middle school students to aspire to, prepare for, and succeed in higher education. ### Note: For more information contact the Communication Office at 903-262-1064. Program
