“For the most part our scores are near the state and national trend,” said Tyler ISD Superintendent David Simmons. “We believe this year’s scores are consistent with past performance.”
The district hopes to expand student preparation through its work with Princeton Review and other test preparation strategies.
“Our goal is not only to increase the number of students that take the tests, but also to increase our performance,” Simmons said.
College entrance exams have been a priority for the Tyler ISD Board of Trustees as demonstrated by their willingness to pay for the exams. Tyler ISD budgets to pay the cost of one exam for every student interested in taking either the SAT or ACT exam. ###
