Card Sales Break All Time Record for
The Tyler ISD Foundation presented a ceremonial check Thursday, April 9, 2009, to the Tyler ISD Elementary Education Department for $30,521.35. The funds came from the annual Discount Card sale held at all 17 Tyler ISD elementary schools. Joe Arciniega, Area Representative of Great American Opportunities, Inc., coordinated the Discount Card sale.
"The Tyler ISD Discount Card sale was a huge success this spring, bringing in more than $30,000 profit to the Foundation and Tyler elementary schools. Every one of the elementary schools in Tyler ISD participated so families from all over Tyler joined in to support their respective school,” said Arciniega.
The discount card, designed by Great American Opportunities, was a win-win situation as more than 6,000 cards were sold. Thousands of families are now enjoying hearty discounts at local merchants such as Dairy Queen, Whataburger, Andy's Frozen Custard, SportClips, Lucky's/VIP Cleaners, Royal Lube, Texas Roadhouse, The Diner, Putt Putt Golf, Sonic, DoubleDave's Pizza, Daniel Boones Grill, Domino's Pizza, Quick N Easy Car Wash, Joe's Italian Grill, & Tyler Skateplex.
“These merchants are benefitting with extra customers as are the local schools and the TISD Foundation who all shared in the profits of the sale,” said Aciniega. “It was a pleasure to partner the Foundation and work alongside every one of the Tyler ISD elementary schools in this important and profitable project."
Darlene Marshall is proud that the Tyler community supports our efforts for additional funding at elementary campuses.
“This allows the principals to have some discretionary funding for projects that may not typically be funded by tax dollars,” stated Marshall. “We are grateful to the children, parents, teachers, and staff who made this a success. Tracy Phelps of the Foundation said that the money contributed to the Foundation will go towards teacher and campus grants, recognition events such as Teacher of the Year, Convocation and the Retiree Luncheon as well as other programs supported for the District by the Foundation.
The Tyler ISD Foundation continues to take orders for the $10 card. For more information on the discount cards, please send an email to foundation@suddenlinkmail.com.
Larry Goddard, Executive Director of the Foundation stated that this is about the 7th year discount coupon cards have been sold by Tyler ISD students. “As far as I know, this is the first year that 100% of the schools participated resulting in a record amount of donations received—more than $2,000 than last year.”
The discount cards are for sale at four of the schools; Owens, Jack, Clarkston, and Ramey.
Tracy Phelps, Director of Development of the Tyler ISD Foundation, and Darlene Marshall, Director of Elementary Education at Tyler Independent School District, receive a ceremonial check Thursday for more than $30,000 from a three week campaign of discount coupon cards sales from Joe Arciniega, Area Representative of Great American Opportunities, Inc. |
