New Rice Elementary Principal Named

Tyler ISD is pleased to announce Jennifer Sturm is the new principal for Rice Elementary School.  Sturm has been with the school system for 14 years.  Sturm currently serves as assistant principal at Caldwell Elementary Arts Academy.  She has served at several campuses as an Instructional Consultant, Instructional Facilitator, and teacher. 

            “I have the utmost confidence in Jennifer’s abilities to lead Rice Elementary School to a new level of excellence,” said Darlene Marshall, Director of Elementary Education.  “This is an exciting time for parents, students, and staff to start the 2008/2009 school year with new leadership.”

Sturm earned her Bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Stephen F. Austin State University, a Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Stephen F. Austin State University, and a second Master’s degree in Educational Administration from University of Texas at Tyler. 

The TISD Board of Trustees approved Sturm’s hiring at its April 17 meeting.  Sturm takes over the principal position July 1, 2008.
