News Release Tyler ISD Recognized at State Conference
Tyler ISD received 6 award recognitions at the 2008 Texas School Public Relations Association (TSPRA) and Education Foundation Annual Conference last week in Houston. The organization is comprised of outreach public school personnel throughout the state and honors publications and other media for outstanding achievement.
Entries selected as best in the state were honored with Silver Star, Gold Star and Best Category Awards. The following is a listing of the award recognitions received by Tyler ISD:
· Video Special Interest/Feature, Career and Technology – Your Passion, Your Plan, Angela Jenkins and Greg McRae, Gold Star. · Video Sports Event, Gill Hitt Golf Tournament, Angela Jenkins, Larry Goddard and Greg McRae, Gold Star. · Booklet, Tyler ISD Folder, Angela Jenkins and Sandra Stanley, Silver Star. · Programs, “The Beat Goes On”, Angela Jenkins and Sandra Stanley, Silver Star. · Video News/Information, TISD News Briefs 10/04/06, Angela Jenkins, Silver Star. · Video Special Interest/Feature, Teacher of the Year HEROES, Angela Jenkins and Greg McRae, Silver Star.
Tyler ISD was also represented by Larry Goddard, Catherine Harrison, Sarah Jacobi, of the TylerISD Foundation, who presented “Truth or Dare: Secrets of a Successful Education Foundation” in a skill session to 45 school districts.
Goddard was inducted as the new Chair Elect of the Education Foundation Division of TSPRA.
Each year Texas School Public Relations Association (TSPRA), with more than 900 members, recognizes school communicators for outstanding work in both print and electronic media. More than 800 entries were received this year from over 135 school districts, education foundations, associations and private consultants.
TSPRA, based in Austin, is a professional organization whose members are dedicated to improving public education in Texas by promoting effective public relations practices, providing professional development for its members, and improving communication between Texans and their public schools.
