TISD Earns Second Financial Reporting Award

            The Tyler Independent School District has been awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for its comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR) for the fiscal year ending in August 2006.  The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.

            This Award of Financial Reporting Achievement has been awarded to Tyler ISD Financial Services as the department primarily responsible for preparing the award-winning financial report.

“Participation in the Certificate of Achievement program is such an awarding experience,” said Tosha Bjork Director of Financial Services, Tyler ISD.  “Receiving this award brings a feeling of confidence and has remarkably increased our financial reporting credibility not only to the District but to the Community as a whole.”

            This is the fourth consecutive year the school district has received this financial report recognition from GFOA and the second organization that recently recognized the work of the TISD Financial Office.
