Tyler ISD Foundation Board Tackles Goals for the New School Year

The Tyler ISD Foundation Board of Directors has started their plan of work for the 2007-2008 academic year with their first board meeting held this week at the newly constructed Douglas Elementary.

Board members heard a report with the results of their I Love Tyler ISD Annual Fund Campaign from last school year, which gave the final amount raised as more than $267,000.  Of these funds close to $100,000 were donated as unrestricted gifts.

Ross Conner is the chair of this year’s campaign, which will kick off Friday, November 2^nd at Willow Brook Country Club.  Other items of business included:
 

·         Report of more than $28,000 in classroom and campus grants which are currently in process at nine

campuses in Tyler ISD.

·         Committee assignments for the 31 board directors.
      ·         Plans for the 2007-2008 academic year.

Jack Davidson, former Tyler ISD Superintendent, read an original poem, “No Greater Impact” dedicated to the work of the Foundation.

The Tyler ISD Foundation was created in 1990 to support the Tyler Independent School District by providing resources to inspire learning, enrich teaching and enhance opportunities for District students.
