News Release TISD Foundation Hosts Annual Golf Tournament
School’s out for summer… and the school district is hitting the golf course…for a good cause.
The Tyler Independent School District Foundation will once again tee off for their annual charity golf tournament. This year will be the 14th consecutive year for the golf tournament with the proceeds going towards the district’s non-profit organization, the Tyler ISD Foundation. The tournament will be held Monday, June 11th, 12 noon, at Cascades Golf Club, located at 4511 Briarwood Drive, Tyler. “More than $250,000 has been raised cumulatively through this event over the years, and we anticipate our most successful tournament ever next week,” said Larry Goddard, Executive Director of the Tyler ISD Foundation. The tournament was re-named in memory of Gil Hitt. He was the school board president at the time of his death in 1997. This year family members who plan to attend the Gil Hitt Memorial Golf Tournament included: his wife, Debbie Hitt, daughter Christie Hamilton, grandson Austin Hamilton, grand-daughter Hannah Hamilton, and daughter, Erin Hitt. Erin is a second grade teacher at Dixie Elementary School. Tom Slack, chair of the tournament and President of Health First Third Party Administrators, has announced Honorary Co-Chairs Jack Davidson (former Tyler ISD Superintendent) and Charles Halstead (former Tyler mayor).
