News Release TISD Police Hosts National Training Course Tyler ISD Police Department is hosting the National School Resource Officers Basic Training School this week at Robert E. Lee High School. School Resource Officers from all over the country will participate in this 40 hour course.
School Resource Officers receive training at various levels through the organization and this particular session is the basic training introductory level. During this workshop officers learn the pyramid concept of how counseling, teaching, and law enforcement contribute to being an effective officer.
The training is sponsored by the National Association of School Resource Officers. It is the largest training organization for school-based police officers in the world. The association is a non profit organization run by its police officer members.
