TISD Hires High School Principal

            Tyler Independent School District Board of Trustees has approved and named Vanessa Choice, an East Texas educator with more than 20 years of experience, as the new principal of John Tyler High School.  Ms. Choice is currently the principal of Boulter Middle School in Tyler ISD.

“Ms. Choice is a perfect example of promoting excellence within the school system,” said Interim Superintendent Gary Mooring. 

Choice began her career in public education in Winona ISD in 1984 as a high school teacher, and then continued her teaching career in Lindale ISD and Tyler ISD. She then advanced to a principal position in Hawkins ISD.  Choice returned to Tyler ISD in 2002 where she has served as principal of Boulter Middle School.

Choice holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from University of North Texas.  She received his Master’s Degree in Educational Administration from Stephen F. Austin State University. 

The TISD Board of Trustees approved Choice’s hiring at its May 17 regular board meeting.  She officially begins her duties July 1.
