Tyler Independent School District Board of Trustees has approved and named Darlene J. Marshall, a Texas educator with more than 25 years of experience, to the leadership role of Director of Elementary Education. In this position, she will oversee the operations of the elementary schools and supervise elementary principals.
Marshall began her career in public education in Tyler ISD in 1981 as a teacher at Andy Woods Elementary, and then continued in Alief, Texas for 15 years where she served as an assistant principal and principal at several elementary schools.
“We are enthusiastic about the professional experiences Ms. Marshall brings to the District,” said Interim Superintendent Gary Mooring.
Marshall holds a Bachelor’s degree in Special Education, Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Supervision, and Mid-Management Certification from the University of Texas at Tyler.
The TISD Board of Trustees approved Marshall’s hiring at its May 17 regular board meeting. She officially begins her duties July 1.
