News Release TISD Foundation Campaign Exceeds Goal
Valentine’s Day was sweet for Directors of the Tyler ISD Foundation Board of Directors. The results of their campaign, I Love Tyler ISD, has exceeded the original goal and raised over $165, 000 with more donations expected before the close of the campaign in late March. The target goal was set at $150,000 so the results are 110% to date.
“Our good news is a result of dedicated determination of the community and our volunteers,” said Gary Howell, Campaign Chair and President of Hibbs-Hallmark Insurance in Tyler.
The Campaign kicked off in November and sought private donations in order to support the school district. The Tyler ISD Foundation has existed since 1990 to provide financial resources to areas not typically funded by tax dollars.
The Campaign provides funding for many of the programs supported by the Foundation on an annual basis, including the Teacher of the Year Banquet, Retirement and Service Anniversaries of District employees, the district-wide annual Convocation. A new event is planned for this year, an Academic Recognition event for the top graduates of both high schools and the teacher they designated as the most influential in their lives.
Also, the Foundation has a competitive grant process for all district teachers to pay for innovative classroom or campus projects. MORE
“We used the theme of I Love Tyler ISD this year for the first time.” said Larry Goddard, Executive Director. “The annual fund campaign is a great reflection of our community’s high priority of quality education. We appreciate the donors to this campaign and want them to know that their donations will benefit the students and teachers of Tyler ISD directly.”
