News Release TISD Foundation Holds Meeting at Caldwell Elementary
The Board of Directors for the Tyler ISD Foundation headed back to school this month, as they began 2007 at Caldwell Elementary Arts Academy. Each month, the volunteer board of directors meets at a different location in Tyler ISD to hold their business meetings.
During the January session, board directors planned its annual Teacher Grants Awards process; heard financial reports from Treasurer Bob Evans; and finalized plans for the remainder of the I Love Tyler ISD Campaign.
The Student Ambassadors of Caldwell Elementary greeted the 30 Foundation Board Directors and conducted tours following the business meeting.
“Caldwell Elementary is an example of how private dollars can support our public schools,” stated Larry Goddard, Executive Director, Tyler ISD Foundation. “This past August, a new addition of classrooms was added by a private gift from the Caldwell Foundation to the school district. The campus itself was a gift a few years ago to the District from Caldwell Foundation and now is a premier site for arts education in our area.”
The Foundation Board of Directors has met at Ramey Elementary School and Hubbard Middle School; they plan to meet at the newly constructed Dr. Bryan Jack Elementary School for the February meeting.
“We appreciate the openness of the administrators of the campuses we have visited for our meetings,” said Goddard. “It’s fitting that we conduct the business of the Foundation in the schools where the fine work of our teachers is performed each day.”
The Foundation was formed in 1990 to support Tyler ISD through the solicitation of private sector donations. No tax dollars are spent in the operation of the Foundation.
