TISD Foundation Continues Campaign Push

The I Love Tyler ISD Campaign is beginning the second half of its push to reach the organization’s goal of $150,000.

“So far we have raised more than $110,000 in support of Tyler ISD,” said Goddard.  “There are many donors in our community who will soon be added to our list of contributors and we hope to conclude the campaign by mid-March,” he stated.

The annual drive of the Tyler ISD Foundation seeks funds to support programs such as grants to classroom teachers and to campuses through a competitive grant proposal process.  Other programs which are assisted by the Foundation include the Advanced Placement Incentive program; special events such as Teacher of the Year banquet, the district-wide Convocation, and Retirement and Service Anniversary luncheon for Tyler ISD employees; and a new event:  Academic Recognition for outstanding students at John Tyler and Robert E Lee high schools.

“This past year, we have restructured the Foundation Board of Directors’ so that their body of work is geared toward developing relationships in the community,” said Goddard.

The Tyler ISD Foundation is a non-profit organization (501.c.3) which exists solely to provide additional funding for Tyler ISD.  The mission of the Foundation is to provide resources to inspire learning, enrich teaching, and enhance opportunities for District students through the support of exemplary programs.  During the past 15 years, almost $500,000 has been granted to Tyler ISD from private sector donations through the Foundation.  No tax dollars are spent in the operations of the Foundation.

The theme of this year’s campaign has been “I Love Tyler ISD” and kicked off in November of last year.  The Campaign Chair is Gary Howell of Hibbs Hallmark Insurance.
