Moore Students Meet
Duke University TIP Standards
Moore MST Magnet School is pleased to announce eighty-nine students qualify for the Duke University Talent Identification Program (Duke TIP).
Duke TIP identifies academically talented seventh graders based on standardized test scores achieved while attending elementary or middle school. Candidates are identified and invited to complete either the SAT or the ACT college entrance examinations. Duke TIP then provides the participants with comparative information concerning their academic abilities and resources for unique educational opportunities. The seventh grade talent search provides an opportunity for highly able students to pursue an above-level testing experience. These above-level tests provide more information about their academic abilities so that they can effectively plan for their high school years.
“We feel that it’s never too early for our students to begin planning for college,” said Moore MST Magnet School Principal Claude Lane. “The Duke TIP program introduces students to the process universities use for college entrance. Taking the SAT or ACT early will help improve students’ scores in high school when it’s really important to achieve their highest score.”
