TISD Teams with Princeton Review to Boost Test Scores
For the past several years Tyler ISD has paid for all juniors to take the PSAT exam and all eligible students to take the ACT or SAT college entrance exams. In an effort to promote participation and increase test scores the district also offers summer test preparation classes and SAT/ACT prep elective courses each semester. The district is now partnering with Princeton Review Incorporated in an effort to better prepare TISD students for the exams.
Princeton Review is one of the nation’s largest companies dedicated to preparing students for undergraduate and graduate entrance examinations. The partnership will provide in-depth, research-based methods and strategies, assisting teachers and students in preparation for the PSAT, ACT, and SAT college entrance exams.
The partnership includes site licenses for both John Tyler High School and Robert E. Lee High School. In addition, the program provides training for teachers, focusing on instructional strategies to increase student performance on the exams. Students will also receive online access to review and practice material as part of the prep program.
The partnership will be funded entirely from grants at a cost of $82,000.00.
