Board Notes A Summary of the October 18, 2007, 2007 Tyler ISD Board of Trustees Meeting
Board Authorizes and Approves Superintendent’s Performance Goals The Board of Trustees unanimously approved the Superintendent’s Performance Goals for the 2007-2008 school year. These assessments include goals the areas of academic performance, facilities and bond program development, business operations and human resources, and communication.
Board Authorizes and Accepts Donations The Board of Trustees authorized and approved the acceptance of $7,000.00 from Tyler Area Builders to the St. Louis School.
Board Approves School Bus Purchase The Board of Trustees unanimously approved the acceptance of the quotes for purchase of seven (7) conventional buses and two (2) special needs buses at a total cost of $742,659.00.
Board Authorizes and Approves Rental Agreement/Pricing for District Facilities The Board of Trustees unanimously approved the regulations and guidelines as set forth in the TISD Facility Rental and Usage Handbook for community usage of TISD’s facilities. A copy of the first reading of the newly revised handbook was presented at the September 20, 2007 Board meeting. Committee members reconvened to reassess rental fee increases. Rental fees were adjusted to reflect on-going costs of facility rentals. Changes were incorporated into the new document.
Facilities Department Provides Update on School Construction Projects Project Manager Randy Rayford, with The Staubach Company, provided the Board of Trustees an update on the progress of the school construction projects.
Peete Elementary is the only school under construction at this time. Peete is near completion in several areas including drywall framing and sheetrock, carpet and flooring, and brick work. Exterior elements such as brickwork, metal roofing and plaster work will continue. Trim out of plumbing, fire protection, HVAC and electrical continues. Paving and sidewalks continue. The interior of the building is on schedule and the site work is approx one week behind schedule. Denson Construction will finish November 30th as planned.
Austin and Douglas elementary schools are in the final review process and will be complete by October 22. Bonner Elementary has one remaining item that will be complete during the Thanksgiving break. It involves the change out of a cabinet and minor painting.
The seven schools, as a whole, are under budget for the 2004 Bond Program.
