A Summary of the July 11, 2007 Tyler ISD Board of Trustees Meeting

 

Board Accepts Resignation of District 4 Trustee

The Board of Trustees approved the acceptance of the resignation of Kristen Baldwin, Single Member District 4 Trustee.  Baldwin moved out of Tyler ISD District 4, and therefore resigned from the School Board. 

 

Board Approves Classroom Learning System

The Board of Trustees unanimously approved EPIC Learning system for John Tyler High School.  The Epic Learning System is a high school transformation model that improves on-time graduation and increases college readiness of high school students. Epic is a core instructional programs that is designed for all students.  Purchase of EPIC computer systems paid for from TXHCS grant at a cost of $39,641.20.

 

Researchers Provides Update on Demographic Study

Dr. Pat Guseman, president of Population and Survey Analysts (PASA) of College Station, and Dr. Stacey Tepera, another consultant with the group, provided the Board of Trustees a study on the progress of growth in the Tyler ISD attendance zone.  The information presented from PASA included Tyler ISD demographic trends, employment trends, housing projections, projected student enrollment and long-range planning possibilities.  The complete demographic study will be available on the Tyler ISD website in the near future.
